Forshore: Tide Rescue help

Forshore: Tide Rescue is a turn-based rescue puzzle for iPhone and iPad. Take time to think: the tide advances with your moves, not with a real-time clock.

How rescues work

Move onto neighbouring dry tiles. You automatically pick up people when you have space. Returning to the boat brings them to safety and makes room for the next group. Depending on the island, you carry equipment: a rope crosses one water tile in a straight line to dry ground, a sandbag delays a flood, a plank lays a path over water and the harness lets you carry more people. On some islands you can also wait a turn.

A 1 on the sand means that tile floods at the end of your next action. Stepping onto it or picking someone up does not stop the tide. Touching and holding a tile describes it without using a turn; Undo uses no turns either.

You only advance by rescuing everyone on the island, in the tutorial too. Partial rescues are not accepted. When someone can no longer be saved, the game tells you You can no longer save everyone and offers Restart island; you can also undo if your tide mode allows it.

The route has 45 islands: the First Rescues tutorial, with nine lessons, and nine groups of four islands. They unlock one at a time, in the order of the Islands map: rescue everyone on an island to open the next one. You can replay any island you have already passed whenever you like. Many islands offer more than one kit: choose one on the island’s entry card, before your first move.

Each island awards up to two lifebuoys with each kit, and only when everyone is safe: one for rescuing everyone and the second if you also match the best route.

The Guide in the main menu (also How to play in the pause menu and Settings) illustrates the rules, terrain, castaways and equipment. If you prefer choosing legal destinations from a list of buttons, turn on Settings → Action list; with VoiceOver it always appears.

If you get stuck

Open Help in the pause menu or from the information button. After one attempt without saving everyone you get a hint; after two, another; after three, you can watch the full best route. With both lifebuoys, all of it is open. Hints never affect your lifebuoys: they mark a tile and explain what to do there.

Watching the best route does have a consequence. Afterwards, that island with that kit gives one lifebuoy at most, and the game asks you first. What you had already earned on this device is kept. The map then shows an eye on that island.

Help is available in Breeze, in Tide and in the tutorial; not in Storm.

Free content and the full game

There are 14 free islands and you can replay them whenever you like: the nine lessons of First Rescues, the four islands of Quiet Coves and The Breakwater, the first of Broken Breakwaters.

One full-game unlock adds the other 31 islands of the route. There are no subscriptions or ads.

The price available for your account appears on the full-game screen: tap a locked island on the map or open Settings → Full game and restore purchases. Opening it does not start a purchase.

I already paid. How do I recover access?

Open Settings → Full game and restore purchases → Restore purchases (Settings is in the main menu and the pause menu) using the Apple Account you purchased with. If the offer does not load, check your connection and use Refresh availability. Restore purchases recovers access to content. Recovering a saved game requires a copy in iCloud; these are separate operations.

If a purchase is awaiting approval, wait for Apple to confirm it. If the request was declined, tap Request the purchase again to ask once more; nothing is charged until you confirm it. If verification fails, refresh or restore before trying to buy again. If the unlock disappears, Forshore preserves the saved game for paid content and blocks its actions until access returns. You can also choose a free island after confirming the change of game.

Saving, Undo and changing devices

Your game and records are saved on this device first, including when you are offline. Undo works even after a failed rescue. How often you can undo depends on the tide mode (Settings → Tide mode): unlimited in Breeze, three per island in Tide (the default) and none in Storm. The islands are the same in all three modes. Restarting the island gives your undos back. The tutorial always allows unlimited undo. Accepting a tutorial lesson’s result closes that lesson’s undo history. Changing or restarting asks for confirmation.

You can enable iCloud in Settings. It is optional and free: private copies use your iCloud account, without buying the full game or connecting Game Center. iCloud must be available for Forshore and have enough space. The app syncs when it can; check the status and last sync before changing devices or uninstalling. Pending changes and progress that has not uploaded cannot be recovered on another device.

On a fresh installation, enable iCloud using the same account. If there is one current remote game, it can be recovered when syncing. If another device continues the same game and you have not progressed separately here, that continuation can be applied automatically when the game is ready to update. If the devices have different progress or games without a shared origin, review the copies and confirm which one to continue. The iCloud saving → Review iCloud notice on the game screen opens these options. Available best results, routes watched and achievements are combined; moves from different games are never mixed, and the help’s attempts travel with the game you choose. You can also recover an earlier copy from the retained versions.

Turning off iCloud stops syncing and preserves local data and copies already uploaded. Changing iCloud accounts pauses syncing: return to the original account to continue. Progress is not automatically transferred to another account. Game Center is not a saved-game backup; exporting a game for review does not produce a file that can be imported or used to restore progress.

If you have deleted iCloud copies, syncing pauses so they are not uploaded again without your decision. Choose Re-enable iCloud saving in the notice and confirm with the same account. Forshore first checks any remaining copies and can then upload your local game again; it does not delete the game on your device. Cancel or disable the feature if you do not want to save to iCloud again.

If local saving fails, try Retry saving. You can explicitly continue without saving, but those changes may be lost when you close the app and are not uploaded to iCloud until successfully saved. If iCloud fails, you can keep playing locally and sync again after resolving the issue. Avoid uninstalling as the first step when troubleshooting progress.

Language, sound and accessibility

The game includes English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese. It follows the app language selected in iOS. Changing language preserves your game.

Settings lets you turn Music, Sound effects, Haptics and Tips during play (short tips; not the hints from Help) on or off. All of them start switched on; music and sound effects respect the silent mode and mix with your own audio. Forshore follows the system’s Reduce Motion setting. With VoiceOver, the actions list opens to offer available destinations without exploring every tile.

Game Center

You can play and earn six local achievements without connecting. Open Settings → Achievements and Game Center to connect, then choose whether to send your saved achievements to the displayed account. There are no leaderboards. Disconnecting from Forshore does not sign out of Game Center on your device.

Open Settings → Support information to review the information before sharing. Settings → Game statistics shows your attempts, undos and times per island, and you can share them if you want to help us tune the difficulty. For a rules issue, also export your route before undoing or changing islands. It contains only the current island and its retained moves. You choose whether to send these files and who receives them; the app does not send them automatically.
